Love the bright colours - really suit the theme of dance music and you can instantly get a feel for what the magazine is about before you even pick it up! Plus, it's good to see young people on the front cover as they would be the main audience for the magazine and it would appeal to them more to see people like themselves on the front.

Don't think theres anything wrong with the numbers as you get them like that in magazines :) Like the way the contents aren't in in a list straight down, makes it more appealing to read :)
I agree with Steph and don't really like the font, think it's a bit too space age and science-like rather than dance aimed

i dont think you need the blue triangle in the corner, maybe a blue border instead?

Don't know if it was just the way that software restricted you but I dont like the big square blocks and think if the edges were a bit faded, or if they were all the same colour it might look a bit better.
The layouts good and introduces the band well, although, there is a lot to take in and it might be a good idea to have this page still bright but a bit more simple to keep with the theme but mix it up a bit

I chose to use this image for my front cover as it was one of the few photes where they were looking straight at the camera. I liked the way they were postitoned however when I edited them I made them close together. I chose what they had to wear I tried to stick to loads of colour and by giving them the instruments I think makes them stand out. when it came around to editing it I cutted out the background because although there was originally a white wall you could see the brown curtain as well and I didn't like it so I cut them out and put them onto a background I created.

this is one of the three images I chose for my contents page the reason why I chose this picture was because it show the band is having fun and getting along it contrast with the other images used on the page. when it came around to editing it the ony thing I did was change the lighting and made it more brighter as the original was a little bit dark. I kept the clothes the same as I was limited to costumes I thought I'd keep it simple. one thing that you cant really see but next to the guy there is a a little dent in the wall I didn't want to worry about this to much and you can only just see it I thought I would keep it in.

this is another image I used on the contents page I put this image in the middle as she is the lead singer of the band possibly the most importand member that has to stand out. I wanted this image to be a little bit serious but also have fun at the same time. the image also shows of her talent a bit and makes a statement. I didn't really do much editing in this picture as the lighting was perfect and the white wall background worked, the only thing I did do was crop the picture a little bit as from her head upwards was a massive white space. I aldo used this image on my double page spread this image was used as her bio picture I chose this as it stood out and I felt made a statement, it identifys who she is and what role she does in the band. I think the pose refelects on the dance music itself and makes it crazy.

this was the final image on my contents page I chose this image as I thought it was one of the best group band photes I took of them all. one of the main things I like in this picture is I think they are natural posses you would find in a normal band picture. this deffinatly stood out for me the most and once again I didn't have to edit it I only roatated it slightly on the page. I was slightly worried about the curtain in the background but I kept it there as it made the image more natural.




this was another of the bio images, I really liked the pose that she did it contrasts with the other images that have been used. I decided to change the costume slightly and make her a little bit more rock as I wanted to make the appeal of her bigger and show that the band don't just have an interest in dance music they can mix in with other genres. When it came round to editing this phote what I did was put a pastal brush and make it look more professional and crop out some of the white background.

this is the final image I used for the bio pictures, I really like this image becuase it's off centre and has a slight edge to it. I decided to keep the costume the same as I wanted to give him iduviduality I chose to put the scarf onto him to make him look like he is up to date with the fashion. when it came around to editing I cut him out completly as I really didnt like the fence and the random tree in the backround. I also like the over exaggerated smile as it fit in the pop/cheesy style which links into the band mixing in with different genres.

Will & grace

this is the font I chose on my double page spread to brake up all the crazy colours and keep the magazine looking really simple and not too crazy. I used the font for the bio's off the band it has that more formal someone else wrote the information look. also its clear and easily read.

Terminator

This is the font I used throughout my magazine it is bold and when giving colour stands out. also the feedback giving its gives a scfi retro look into my dance magazine which I was trying to get across. some people disagreed on the use of this font as they thought it was too werid and coming across as a science magazine rather than dance aimed. I decided to use this font specifically on my title as I thought it would stand out and have a wow effect when the viewers first saw it.

this font is the font I used on my double page spread it is very creative and brakes up the normailty of the other fonts. I like the fact it has brakes in it as it refers to the dance music (dance brakes). I chose to have the purple colouring onto the blue backgorund as I thought it would stand out more and make it more clearer to use.

magazine ideas

my original idea for my magazine was pop however the pictures I had taken were not contrasting with the backgrounds and I couldnt find the right fonts to go with the pictures my original front cover I created, had a picture of beyonce on and it was black and white however it looked like an R&B magzine rather than pop so I changed it to a dance music magazine.

This is the front cover of my dance magazine asw you can see I have used alot of bright colours so it drags people in and makes it look exciting. The background I made on photoeshop using the brushes tool, the reason why I used the funky shapes is because dance music is fast and crazy and to get that effect I used the shapes to make the magazine look crazy. The font I used is called 'Terminator' the reason I chose this font is because its bold and when I filtered it with colours it stood out and contrasted well with the background. I chose the name 'Chunes' as it's a play on words with the tunes it also is slang so it realates to my target audience which is teenagers, the slogan 'dance through your ears' I chose this because its cheesy it gives the magazine have a slighly different edge to it and slightly going with my orignal idea of having a pop magazine. The reason why I chose this specific photoe is becasue its fun, it looks like they are a real band and as they are young I think people will look up to them for inspiration. the one thing I would possibly change is put more sub-headings into the magzine as I only have the two about 'Ravey Davey and the TA-DAH posters' I dont think its enough for people to want to read more.

This is my contents page for my dance magazine, the background was ispiried from the game space invaders I thought seeing as I like colour and doing a dance magazine alot of my influences will be from old school games like space invaders, pac man etc the background I made myself by looking at pictures from google and re-creating them on paint then converting them to photoeshop to edit the colours and make slightly fade it otherwise you wouldn't of been able to see the writing and pictures. I chose the 'Terminator' font again as I thought to save complications changing font just to stick to one I also wanted my readers to be able to read it thats why it's fairly big, I chose the font to be green as green is the colour of aliens and seeing this page is space invaders I thought it could realate to that. I really like how simple this page is and because it's simple it stands out the writing I feel draws you down to the pictures which I really like as the pictures really stand out against the background. I feel this will attract my audience as its fun I have used rather simple but bright colours I have also tried not to sterotype it so all people can enjoy it rather than stick with the rockers or the R&B fans.

This is my double page spread for my dance magazine I chose again to have the background all crazy colours and have the weird shapes. I really like the layout of the page as its starts with the name of the band in the blue triangle I made it like this as I feel its like the band are trying to make a statement. I chose again the font type 'Terminator' as it's bold and when you add colour to it, its clear, this time though I decided to cut lines out of the word as if i kept it the same the repetativness would of got slightly boring. I chose to give each band member a different colour that there Bio would go in I did this for their iduveduality also the colours go well with the shapes in the background. The font I chose for the Bio's was 'Will & Grace' I really liked this font I thought it was simple the readers would be able to read it and it brakes up all the crazy colours and pictures and adds some normality to it. I'd like to say that I have tried to stick to a normal magazine functions by having the title at the front the text going down the page and the pictures placed where nessacerry.

Flat Plans

for my magazine the title name is 'CHUNES' I chose this becasue it's catchy it is a play on words with (tunes). I also have decieded that I will choose a really bold font and taht each letter will have have its idervidual colour. to feature on my cover I have chosen beyonce I chose her because she has a massive appeal to the public plus she is very popular in the pop idustry. for afvertisment and to drag the readers in i decieded to give away free poster of a new band i will create called 'Ta-dah'. also I will grab the appeal buy giving a winner of the compotiton inside a brand new mp3 player. for the colours I will stick to black and white for the time being and then play around and putting pinks green and yellow into the background.



for my contents I will stick the the bright colours and the big bold font to stand out this is so the target audience will be attracted to the magazine and will want to read more. I will also give them a reminder of the free posters that u get when buying the magazine purely for advertsiment and apeal. topics i will feature in my magazine are

for my first page its going to have mini photes of the beyonce tour i went to go and see. the title will say 'it's beyonce' and there will be a music note next to the title to make it look pop like. also on the page it will feature an exlusive interview about her tour and upcoming events (albums,gigs,partys etc.)

the backgroun will be very brightly coloured but i will be experimenting more with black and green as they contrast together . also I think the colours need to be less appealing as im now going into the main features of the magazine.

for the second part of my magazine I will advertise the new pop band that is out called 'TA-Dah' this will be a slighty outrageous page with lots of stars sweet rappers etc to give away the genre of pop. it will also advertise the new bands single called 'Fast Love' I chose the name it catchy and it sounds like one of them annoying songs you just get stuck in your head all day. the page will also feature ceveral images of the band and indervidual pictures of them will a little bit of info about each band member, this is purley for the appeal of the band. Im still deciding on weather to have a small space for questions people have ask about the band this will only happen if the page has ebough room on it.

NRS reserch/tagert audience reserch

as I couldnt find a dance magazine survey I chose to look at the top of the pops sales figures.

using www.nrs.com I reserched who and what kind of people read top of the pops magazine from this I have a better understanding of who I should base my dance magzine. I found out that 13900 people aged between 15-44 buy this magazine whithin that I should probaerly base my magazine around this age. also 122000 women buy the magazine over the 44000 men so I will be targerting the women more rather than the men in my magzine but I will include stuff for the male gender. 107000 of these people are class ranged between C-D so people earning less money and a lower income than the 62000 B-A class people.
I will make my magazine appeal to the younger teenage genertion as I will get more readers and if we was going to look at sales figures I would get a bigger profit
